Check Your Smoke Alarm

Each year on April 1st you are reminded to change the batteries in your smoke alarm.

Did you remember? If not then please do as each year in Australia many people die, and many more are injured in home fires.

As a parent or Family Day Care Provider it is vital that you check and test your smoke alarm at least every month, replacing the battery to help protect yourself, your family and the children in your care.

How can you test and clean your smoke alarm?

Monthly – test by pressing the button with the broom handle

Yearly – vacuum around your smoke alarm vents

Yearly – replace your 9 volt battery each year
