Increases in Child Care Benefit and Tax Rebate

Minister for Education, Julia Gillard, and the Parliamentary Secretary for Early Childhood Education and Child Care, Maxine McKew today announced changes to Child Care Benefit (CCB) rates and income thresholds.

They also announced changes to the maximum Child Care Tax Rebate (CCTR) available for working families.

From 1 July 2009, over 800,000 Australian families will receive more assistance with child care costs following indexation of child care rates plus changes to income thresholds.

The maximum CCB rate for a child using full-time approved child care increases by $6.50 a week to $180, and the maximum CCTR increases to $7 778 a child per year.
